Recently, I checked out the 2025 World Almanac and book of Facts from my library. It’s a widely recognized reference book that provides a comprehensive compilation of facts and statistics on a wide range of topics, including sports, pop culture, science, technology, history, geography, and more. I checked this out to go over with my son, and additionally I’ve found it inspiring my writing and research.

There are fascinating lists like famous journalists in the United States, worst data breaches, worst nuclear disasters, incarceration rates, and attempts to chronicle world history. Sometimes the lists are more fun, like the presidential rankings from 2021.

This list has nothing to do with my personal opinions on this, I’m just repeating the list. The list was assessed by historians and other professional observers of the presidency, 142 participated. They rated each president on 10 qualities, although those ten qualities aren’t listed.

  1. Lincoln
  2. Washington
  3. FDR
  4. Teddy Roosevelt
  5. Eisenhower
  6. Truman
  7. Jefferson
  8. Kennedy
  9. Reagan
  10. Obama
  11. LBJ
  12. Monroe
  13. Wilson
  14. McKinley
  15. John Adams
  16. Madison
  17. John Quincy Adams
  18. Polk
  19. Clinton
  20. Grant
  21. George H. W. Bush

  29. George ‘dubyah’ Bush
  30. Arthur
  31. Nixon
  32. Harrison
  33. Hayes
  34. Van Buren
  35. Taylor

  38. Fillmore
  39. Tyler
  40. Harrison
  41. Donald J. Trump

Additionally, here are some fun facts about presidents from the book:

The longest living president was Jimmy Carter who lived 94 years and 172 days, he surpassed George H. W. Bush by a single day, who lived 94 years and 171 days. Jimmy Cater was also the first U.S. President to be born in a hospital.

Theodore Roosevelt was the youngest president, being 42 when being sworn in after McKinley’s death.

It took 8 presidents before the United States had a U.S. Born citizen, who was Martin Van Buren.

The only President to never hold government office or serve in the military prior to running, and the only president to be convicted on criminal charges is Donald J. Trump.

There have been three presidents that have died on the 4th of July; John Adams and Thomas Jefferson (who notoriously despised each other, and died on the same night) and James Monroe (1831).

There you have it, some interesting presidential facts from the World’s Almanac!
