It’s that time again! Time for an update of the ChatGPT vs S&P 500 fund for month four! The last one of these was technically in the month of April (April, 4th), but I want to get back on track to doing this at the end of the month.
Trade war with China is in full effect as the Trump Administration has raised tariffs on China to 145%, leaving a baseline of 10% across the globe. Port traffic at American ports such as Los Angeles, Seattle, and Miami is a ghost town of activity. Meanwhile, Shanghai ports remain bustling. Some economists suspect shortages in stores within three weeks or less of writing this. I’m hoping this can serve as a sort of time capsule in a way to what’s happening in a very small slice of the market. Again, like earlier this month, it continues to be my prediction that the ChatGPT picks will be more sharply impacted by the administration’s policies and tariffs.
With that being said, let’s see where we’re at:

As predicted, the GPT chosen stocks have suffered to a great degree during economic uncertainty with tariffs and trade wars. Inversely, they also seem to have tremendous resilience over the same period compared to the greater S&P 500, both making gains throughout April, with GPT stocks growing by 9% and S&P 500 Index growing 2.5% in the same period.
