We recently renovated our master bathroom, this included changing out all the tile flooring, a new toilet, and a new shower. We were quoted by multiple contractors, the lowest price we received was $28,000, although the lowest acceptable quote was $31,500.
We decided to do the renovation ourselves. This won’t be a detailed breakdown of all the steps we took was, that’ll be a different article. This will just highlight the cost for us to do it ourselves compared to what we were quoted. In all fairness, I do not calculate our labor in this, which arguably would change the overall cost.

Caveat: My wife and I have done stuff like this before, although not everything. We did have tools on hand which reduced he cost (although we still had to buy blades, etc). We likely worked a total of 25 hours between the two of us. This included demolition, measuring, prepping, installation, tiling, grouting, un-grouting (we re-grouted due to an initial dislike of the first grout color.) This does not account for driving to the store and getting supplies, and we did not work all at once. It also doesn’t account for drying or curing time for mortar, grout, calking, etc.
